The End of an Era
Our year came to a happy close last Friday. I shared the blog with the children and they loved seeing how much they have changed. Please share this last one with them as well. Here are our final months.
We celebrated Earth Day with our Annual Cheetah Walk; a day of fresh air and fitness.
For our Earth Day Science lesson, we learned about the layers of the Earth. We created a model with our partner. When we sliced our sphere open, we revealed our layers! Eli was excited to find the Layers in a book later that day.
We also used our understanding of the topography of the Earth to create beautiful art pieces. Here are a few samples.
We had a wonderful day at Point Defiance Zoo. Thank you to our great chaperones!
The following day was Wednesday. We relaxed with an art project learning about self portraits. We looked at our different face shapes, and where our eyes start, and what kind of lines we could use to create our hair.
That same Friday was Field Day. Rain tried to throw us a curve but with the help of our stalwart parent volunteers, we had a great day!
Monday the 8th was Unbirthday Day. We celebrated all of our summer birthdays by singing and playing the name game. We had doughnuts for our snack later in the day.
OK Dad's, avert your eyes. (or don't and act surprised.) Following our self portrait lesson, we made portraits of our dads,or grandads for Father's Day!
Finally it was pack up/clean up day! What great helpers they were! Evie even found the missing Hershey's Kiss from our 100th Day treasure hunt! (PS Mr. Clean Magic Eraser was a hit!)
On our last day of school, we signed yearbooks (and some signed each other!) and joined the school for the end of year sing-a-long.
Our year was over. We walked to buses and cars for the last time as a class. I hope we created some happy memories.
I have loved being your child's teacher. Thank you to all of who volunteered for the zoo, the beach, or any other activity. Big shout out to Mrs. Howard, Hannah's grandmother, and Mrs. Sweetman, who joined us every Wednesday. Thank you to Bethany's Grandmother, and Christian's mom who provided treat bags and surprise snacks throughout the year.
Have a wonderful summer. I hope to see you when school resumes in September!
