Spring Forth
Well, our principal said it...9 more Mondays to go. Let's take a look back at all we've been up to since Winter Break.
In January, we created a class mural for Dr. King's birthday. One of his great dreams was for children of all backgrounds to be in school together...and we are!
February is the shortest month with the MOST things to celebrate!
Mr Kirby started his multi-muscle fitness course. This is always a big hit with the children.
The 100th Day of School is a huge milestone. We celebrated with a 100 kisses treasure hunt, and a group structure build , each team using 100 cups.
Shortly after that we celebrated Valentine's Day. The children had a choice to create a paper plate "I love you beary much!" valentine, or an origami "I only have fries for you" valentine. The children also created their own valentine mail boxes. Thanks for all the cereal boxes!
February is also Dental Health Month. We talked about our teeth and how to care for them. Then we did an experiment with eggs dyed with coffee. We used a toothbrush with just water, and then with toothpaste to see what would remove the stain the best. The favorite part is always eating the hard-boiled egg afterward.
March is Dr. Seuss's birthday. We did a salute with a favorite drawing project. The children love Art Hub for Kids. But the process for the goldfish feels weird. This class did the best job of just going with the flow...and the results prove it!!
We had a visit from the Big Foot Brass Band, The JBLM Jazz band. They learned the songs from K-Pop Demon Hunter! Oh the joyful noise as they played and the whole auditorium sang!
We read a story called, Grace for President, a story about a little girl who says, after seeing the posters of U.S. Presidents, "Hey, where are the girls?!" So we thought about people we knew who would be great for the job. Friends, moms, and classmates were happily featured.
Finally, we visited Mrs. Taylor's class' open house of living biographies.
And that brings us up to date!
We gather again next Monday, the 13th. Cheetah Walk is coming up on the 22nd and don't forget your PTA flower baskets. I put their poster on the back of the newsletter.
Enjoy your break!!
