Getting Started
Hey everyone!
What a great start to our year. Just a few quick photos from our first week.
We start and end our days with some building, art, or engineering activities. The children are free to choose and make discoveries. It's a great way to get the brain engaged and our eyes prepared for the work ahead. And it's a nice way to exhale at the end of the day. One of our friends used this time to craft a working kite out of recycled paper!
GLYPHS!
We learned this week that a 'glyph' is a picture that stands for something else. We created a truck glyph. Each part of the truck, from color to cargo, represented a personal choice. After we were finished, we collected the data to see who in the class preferred caramel apples over pumpkin muffins, soccer over football, etc. Thank you to Mrs. Evans, who retired last year, for coming in to give us a hand!
We've had our first Birthday! Lawrence gave us a great start to learning our birthday game. We learned the word 'category,' (he chose cars,) and we had to think of a car that started with a letter of his name. Hence the question in our planners.Next week we will do our iReady diagnostics on Monday and Tuesday mornings. We will catch up unfinished tests on Wednesday. Please help your child to get a good night's rest.
