Autumn 2023

We have been very busy since our last blog.

Take a look!

APPLE ORCHARD!

The weather gods were mostly with us as we strolled through Curran's Apple Orchard. Lots of good information for everyone. I even heard parents expressing that they had learned some new things!

Sun, Moon, and Mexico!
We have been discussing what creates Day and Night, as well as the difference between sunny and daytime. We were excited to learn about the upcoming eclipse where the sun, moon, daylight, and night all come into play. In honor of National Hispanic Heritage month, we were inspired to do a Mexican Folk Art painting of the Sun and the Moon.

PE with Mr. Kirby
PE is one of our favorites. Mr. Kirby has been working with the children on positional words, like above, below, around.

Math Games:
One of the best ways to memorize math facts is through games. The brain is relaxed and information is collected through repetition. I thank Yahtzee for my multiplication facts! We played Penny Cup to build addition and subtratction skills. You can play at home with pennies or beans, or any small item. One person closes their eyes, while the other puts some of the items under the cup, and some on top. That person has to remind the guesser how many they started with: "I have10 pennies, 3 are on top. How many are under the cup?"

Liquid Glue and Skeletons too!

We needed to show that we could use liquid glue before we did our skeleton project. The children practiced dot -dot -not- a- lot and everyone received their liquid glue license. I was very proud of how everyone did during the skeleton project...a task I usually save for 2nd grade and up! Thank you to Mrs. Sweetman, our weekly volunteer!

The trees are at Cherrydale are beautiful this year! We are on our way to the holidays!
This Friday, the 10th is no school for Veteran's Day.
Weds the 22nd is a Half Day and the 23rd and 24th are Thanksgiving Days.
I am thankful for this terrific class!
Fondly,
Ms Rae
